Sennen Cove All-weather Lifeboat ~ Most Recent Service Launch

Monday 27th October
Station Inshore Lifeboat ` Spirit of the RLC`
The `Spirit of the RLC` launched this morning at 1050 to assist two children reported in serious trouble in the surf off Sennen Beach.
Lifeboat quickly on scene in the surf and recovered a girl - and a man who had entered the water to assist her. These two casualties were landed at the lifeboat station and the lifeboat returned to the scene as there was concern for the safety of a second man who had entered the water to assist. The second child had made his way safely back to the beach.
At 1116 the second man was confirmed ashore safe and well and the ILB returned to station.

Weather - squally showers, northwesterly wind force 4 -5 with a 2m swell and rip current off the beach.

Saturday 18th October
Station Tyne Class "Norman Salvesen " and ILB `Spirit of the RLC`

The `Norman Salvesen` launched this afternoon at 1253 to assist the yacht `Colette of Yealm` - 4 persons on board - unable to make headway against the tide with a fouled propeller some 2 miles northwest of Pendeen. One person on board also suffering from sea sickness.
Lifeboat on scene at 1313 and took the yacht in tow, initially towards Sennen Cove where the ILB met up and took the sea-sick person and another person off the yacht and conveyed them to the Cove. The tow then continued to Newlyn, arriving at appx. 1700.
Lifeboat then returned to Sennen Cove.

Weather:- fine, southwesterly breeze force 3.
